Triumph 6 cylinder into 1500
Hi, I’m currently considering buying a 1500 midget. I believe that spitfire and gt6 engines are modular and know that they swap over on the spitfire chassis. Has anyone ever fitted a 6 cylinder in a 1500 midget? I’m not looking for out and out power / speed, and would probably stick to 2 litre with overdrive box. I realise that front springs and brakes will need up rated. Apart from length everything else should fit.
Looking at pictures on various sites, one option would be to use the 1500 front cover and move everything back, battery in boot and remove heater, shorten prop shaft, widen tunnel. Option two fabricate new mounts and work out radiator / cooling. Option 3 halfway between option 1 & 2 possibly easier than 1 and better balanced than 2.
Why? I can’t afford a TR6 and love the sound of a 6 cylinder through twin tail pipes.
Any information will be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure how the weight of the 6 cyl engine goes, it felt pretty heavy when I shifted one out of a TR6! You would not want any more weight on the front wheels.
