So what I've discovered is that it appears Rostyle / steel wheels have spherical seat wheel nuts, usually the form is like a hex bar with the end turned with a spherical seat. Alloy wheel nuts have a 60° taper on them, and usually have a shoulder at the base of the nut before the taper.
With respect to McGard locking wheel nuts, although Halfords appear to list them, they don't appear on the mcGard website, so either they are old stock of a discontinued line, or Halfords have mislisted them. i think I'll stick with the locking wheel nuts sold by Moss and others, which are stated as being only suitable for alloy wheels.

Mine are spherical rather than tapered but I'm on steel wheels. Do let us know what you discover about the Minilite fittings.
